Big Sur Adventure // Pfeiffer Beach + Partington Cove
Remember going on adventures?! What a weird time to look back through these photos just as covid-19 was taking over the World. This was the week before the Bay Area went into shelter-in-Place. Lindsey and I left for Big Sur on the previous Wednesday, aware of covids presence abroad, but had no idea what was going to happen. When we came back home on Friday and had reliable phone service, it felt like we came home to a different world. Gatherings over 10 (5?) weren’t allowed, we were advised to not go to restaurants or bars, etc etc. The following Monday, we went into selter-in-place.
For our March adventure, Lindsey and I car camped in Big Sur. We realized we haven’t camped here together so this was the perfect weekday trip to do! Given our usual weather luck, we actually had some luck and somehow decided to camp in Big Sur during the three days it wasn’t supposed to rain. Yay! It did sprinkle as we were driving to Big Sur, but the other days were dry.
What we did:
We camped at Fernwood Campground, Lindz fav car camping spot in BS. (Spot #53 in the best… just don’t book it when we’re trying to go ;))
sunset at Pfeiffer Beach ($12 entrance fee, so plan to make it worth it!)
day hiked in Andrew Molera (peek our sandwich making station below). We recommend the Bluffs Trail and going to the beach via Spring Trail.
Partington Cove to find the cozy 2 person bench at the end of the cove
as you drive home, stop at every pull out along Hwy 1 and take in the beauty of the coast :)
I very rarely take my digital camera on our adventures because I either want to use my film camera or honestly, just want to use my phone. Depending on what we’re doing, I don’t want to carry my camera, haha. I associate my digital camera with work, so when I am doing something on my “off” time, I don’t want to work ;) But, I made it a goal of mine to bring my camera on this car camping trip to challenge myself and to see if I liked having my digital camera with me! Will I start bringing it all the time? No. Will I try to bring it more often? Likely. It is nice to have all these images from our trip and now I have lots of pretty landscape photos to look through when I’m in need of an “adventure” while we’re home.
Thank you for being my adventure partner and my boo #2 Lindz!!

and a few phone photos below, taken with the HUJI app… because I’m obsessed with it!
bottom left photo? veggies to go with mac-n-cheese, only the best meal to eat while car camping… and even at home. SO GOOD!
