Minimony Wedding Slide Ranch // Katie + Julian

Minimony Wedding on a bluebird day at Slide Ranch

Minimony! What’s that? It’s a mini ceremony! A new 2020 wedding term because as we all know, Covid has made couples planning weddings in 2020 change their plans. Katie + Julian decided to have a small ceremony on their originally planned wedding date and at their planned venue (so happy it worked out for them!), with the party happening in 2021 (fingers crossed!!). Their immediate families live in the area so they were all able to attend, which I know was very special for them.

And holy guacamole, can you believe the weather they had?! A July coastal wedding in the Bay Area could be beautiful like their day or it could be completely foggy (as it was the next day, I heard). It was almost too hot for us, haha. We can’t handle the heat :)

These small weddings are truly a group effort, with Julian, his brother and father-in-law helping set up the ceremony area. His brother-in-law was the DJ and supplier of refreshments. J’s brother was the officiant. This time together for their minimony can be so effortless and very go with the flow, which really decreases the stress of the day! The significance of getting married is really highlighted with these small ceremonies, which I absolutely love. It’s really about the couple and celebrating their love.

One fun note about this wedding is I photographed Katie’s brothers wedding in 2018, so I really enjoyed seeing her family again and catching up with them! Hi Jane and Erik (I blogged their wedding as well)!

After the ceremony we did lots of family photos (which is so special for K+J to be able to have photos with the important people in their lives), shared air hugs, refreshed with beers and then we walked down to the water. When we got down there, K+J shared private vows with each other. Another thumbs up for them doing what represents them and celebrating how they wanted to! After, Katie dipped her toes in the water (100% approve) and then we took some portraits. They were beaming the whole time and I’m pretty sure they have the best laughs!!

This day was so lovely and I cannot wait to celebrate with them again in 2021!! They get to celebrate twice and I get to see them again. Yay!
